Editors in Chief- Profile
Prof. Dr. Hesham A. El Ensashy, is currently the assistant director for Innovation and Products Development, Institute of Bioproducts Development, University Technology Malaysia (UTM). Before joining UTM, he was the assistant director of Mubarak City for Scientific Research for Research Institutes Affairs (Alexandria, Egypt). Prof. El Enshasy received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Microbiology (Ain Shams University, Egypt), Dr. rer. Nat. in Industrial Biotechnology (TU Braunschweig, Germany 1998). Post Doc. Faculty of Engineering, The Ohio State Univ. (USA) and GBF, (Germany). He established many research and industrial platforms for the industrial production of many bioactive metabolites using microbial, mammalian and plant cells in many universities, research institutes and companies. He organized different training programs for bioprocess design and training for operation, troubleshooting, validation, standardization of production process under cGMP. Prof. El Enshasy published more than 60 publications in peer reviewed international journals/books. He is also active as advisory board member, scientific and bio-business consultant for biotech. companies in Egypt, Belgium, Greece, USA, China and Malaysia for the important three Ts (Technology Transfer, Technology Implementation and Technology Development) as well as process and platform designer for Biotechnology industries.
Prof. Dr Mohamad Roji Sarmidi is a Professor of Bioprocess Engineering and Dean for Biotechnology Research Alliance at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). His research interests are in bioprocessing and bioproducts development. His research theme is focus on the development of products and services for the wellness industry. Wellness is a multidisciplinary strategy for health enhancement based on system biology. The main goal is to promote cellular regeneration and homeostasis. He is currently doing R&D on the development of nutraceuticals and anti-ageing cosmetics.
Prof. Sarmidi was the head of Bioprocess Engineering Department (1994-1997) and R&D Manager of CEPP, UTM (1999-2008). He has authored and coauthored some 45 refereed journal articles. He is also the Founding Chairman of the International Conference on Biotechnology for the Wellness Industry (ICBWI) since 2008. He is an Associate Member of Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and Member of Nutritional Medicine Society Practitioner Malaysia (MNMedP).
