Giuliano Palocci - Profile
Giuliano Palocci is a research technologist at the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics, Centre for Animal Production and Aquaculture of Monterotondo, Rome, Italy. He deals in dairy technologies, studying milk and cheese quality and the methods to improve raw materials and process technologies. He carries out on the dairy samples the chemical and physical-chemical analyses (gross composition, NaCl content, soluble nitrogen, and others) and instrumental analyses (NIR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, lactodynamograph, spectrophotometer). He collaborated on different projects: about new or improved products for the development of pasta filata cheeses from ewe’s milk and improvement of the coagulation ability of a vegetable rennet from Cynara cardunculus; about healthier products by reduction of the salt content of the PDO Pecorino Romano cheese; about the increased of the shelf-life studying the evolution of the microbiological and chemical characteristics of the homogenised Ricotta cheese produced from buffalo whey during storage; about food safety investigating the role of cheese-making on the chemical contaminants content in the products and by-products; about the advice and training through the technical support to cheese-makers to improve and innovate their products and processes; about traditional products with a survey on the physical, chemical, enzymatic and microbiological characteristics of artisanal rennet paste from the centre of Italy and trying a rapid method to spotting Buffalo Mozzarella cheese traceability; about the assessment of milk treatments (storage time, Pasteurisation temperature, thermization, freezing) on the cheese; about the evaluation of the coagulation aptitude by lactodinamografic analysis of the buffalo, sheep, goat and cow milk.
Muhammad Binyameen - Profile
Dr. Muhammad Binyameen was born in Mangrotha, Pakistan, on 01.01.1989. He earned a DVM degree in 2011 from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
(UVAS) Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his MPhil degree in the subject of Theriogenology in 2013. He worked on the “Effect of mineral variation in water, soil, fodder and blood serum on reproductive efficiency of buffaloes”. Meanwhile, he joined Buffalo Research Institute (BRI) in Pattoki, Pakistan as a veterinary officer. He worked on managing future candidate bulls for Semen Production units at the Calf Raising Centre of BRI from 2013-2016. He induced early puberty in young buffalo calves through training for semen donation before shifting to SPU. He worked on Bhunikey Buffalo Farm from 2016 to 2018. At Buffalo farm, he worked on the reproductive aspects of buffaloes. In 2018, he again joined UVAS, Lahore, to complete his Ph.D. degree in Theriogenology. His doctoral work was on “Reproduction-nutrition interactions during the transition period in Nili Ravi buffaloes”. He was awarded a 6-month fellowship award at Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands, in 2022. He joined Buffalo Research Institute in 2023 and researched the reproductive aspects of buffaloes. The role of nutrition in the reproduction of buffaloes is his main area of interest.
Metha Wanapat - Profile
Prof. Dr. Metha Wanapat, one of the most prominent animal scientists in the Asian-Australasian region, has earned a B.Sc. from Khon Kaen University, Thailand, MS, Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition from North Dakota State University, USA and Post Doc., from Agricultural University of Norway. His teaching and research have been in ruminant nutrition and feeding in ruminants, including buffaloes, beef, dairy cattle, and small ruminants, using local feed resources and agricultural crop residues. Manipulation of rumen ecology and fermentation process have been among the prioritized research activities. Moreover, the development of food-feed-system (FFS) and feeding strategies using dietary means as rumen enhancers. Currently, he has been investigating developing feeding innovations to mitigate rumen methane emission based on the use of plant and fruit-peels phytonutrients as dietary supplements. He has published research papers in International Journals with a high impact factor of more than 350 papers and holds H-index = 45. Currently, Professor Wanapat has been ranked in the world’s top 2 % of scientists in 2023 by Stanford University Ranking.
Furthermore, human resource development and on-farm research work have been his current focal undertakings. In addition, he has been honored with numerous outstanding scientific awards including The Outstanding Animal Scientist (2000) of Thailand by the Animal Husbandry Association of Thailand, the 7th Outstanding Animal Science Award by the Asian-Australasian Animal Production (AAAP) Societies (2008), The Sarasin Outstanding Researcher Award (2011) of Khon Kaen University, the Outstanding Professor in Science and Technology of Thailand (2012) by the Council of University Academicians of Thailand etc. Currently, he has been awarded the High-end Foreign Expert under the One Belt One Road Initiative Policy by the Chinese Government of Yunnan Province, PR. China. In addition, he has been invited as a Visiting Professor to many Organizations/Universities, including The National Research Institute/ MTTK, Finland; the University of California, Davis, USA; University of Nottingham, the UK; Yunnan Academy of Grassland and Animal Science, China; China Agricultural University, China; Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China; Lanzhou University, China; Vietnam National University of Agriculture, Nong Lam University, Vietnam, Souphanouvong University, Laos, etc.
Professor Wanapat has been serving in many capacities, such as a resource person and short-term consultant to many International Organizations, e.g., IFS, UNDP, FAO, EU, ICARDA, SIDA-SAREC, NUFU, ILRI, etc.
Professor Dr. Metha Wanapat has been actively engaging in ruminant nutrition and feeding innovation research and now holds the position of “The Distinguished Research Professor of Khon Kaen University, Thailand”.
