Dr. Ana Cristina Lindsay is a community-based public health researcher trained in maternal and child health and pediatric dentistry. Her public health research program and scholarship focus on achieving health equity through understanding and reducing health disparities. Her research is focused on minoritized, multi-ethnic Latinx (Hispanic and Brazilian) populations living in the United States and Latin America. Her primary research program focuses on improving lifestyle behaviors and preventing obesity during the critical early life stages of pregnancy and early childhood. Her secondary research program focuses on the application of mixed methods to address cancer disparities among Latinx and, more recently, Cape Verdean populations, with a special emphasis on the prevention of HPV-associated cancers. Her research is designed to identify and gain a deep understanding of the social determinants of health that serve as barriers to health among vulnerable and under-resourced Latinx populations. She has a special interest in the application of mixed methods research to develop culturally responsive health promotion interventions in pregnancy and early childhood.
