Abstract: Climate change is expected to have serious impacts on developing countries, including Vietnam. The central government of Vietnam has launched programs to study climate change trends and impacts on natural resources, environment and socio-economic development, and adaptation strategies. These programs have the active involvement of many ministries, sectors, research institutions and local governments. This paper addresses the perceptions of provincial officers in Vietnam regarding climate change, its impacts on agricultural activities, and adaptation options. It examines the current knowledge and understanding capacity of provincial officials in implementing the National Target Program to Respond to Climate Change, and the Action Plan to Response to Climate Change of the Agriculture and Rural Development Sector. The results from the study provide insight into the perceptions on climate change and climate change adaptation measures held by Vietnamese government officials working in environmental and agricultural sectors. The survey data indicate that Vietnamese government officials are aware of climate change and its potential impacts, but have relatively poor understanding of some aspects, given the key role of government officials in implementing Vietnamese adaptation policies and mitigation measures. These new findings are important to Vietnamese and international organizations involved in assisting agricultural research and extension agencies with identifying and implementing strategies to adapt Vietnamese farming systems to a changing climate. Abstract : To Assess the Quality of Life in Patients Suffering from Allergic Rhinitis
To Assess the Quality of Life in Patients Suffering from Allergic Rhinitis DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.67 Published: 01 September 2015 |
Abstract:Background: Allergic Rhinitis (AR) associated with impairments in patients day-to-day functioning at home and work is a global health problem. It’s associated with sleep disorders, emotional problems, impairment in activities, and social functioning. However, it’s not known to what extent quality of life (QOL) scores, work impairment, or sleep is altered in Indian setup hence, this study was designed to assess the quality of life of patients suffering from allergic rhinitis. Methodology: This prospective, observational, cross sectional study was conducted on patients suffering from allergic rhinitis visiting the out patients department. The patients who gave written informed consent were divided into two groups based on gender, Group 1 was males and Group 2 was females. A detailed history was taken and participants underwent thorough medical examination, followed by assessment on Rhino conjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) and WHOQOL – Bref scores. Results: A total of 87 patients were screened of which 40 patients were enrolled in study. The average age of patients in the study was 28.08±10.01, a total of 26 males and 14 females completed the study. There were significantly worse non nose/eyes symptoms scores, practical problems, and emotional scores in patients in Group 2 as compared to Group 1. Group 1 had better aspect of sleep, nasal symptoms, and eyes symptoms as compared to Group 2. Whereas, Group2 had better aspect of activities score as compared to Group 1. Conclusion: To conclude both groups had compromised quality of life, with females being more affected as compared to males Keywords: Allergic rhinitis, quality of life, social, emotional, psychological. Abstract : Fourier Coefficients of a Class of Eta Quotients of Weight 14 with Level 12
Fourier Coefficients of a Class of Eta Quotients of Weight 14 with Level 12 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.64 Published: 19 August 2015 |
Abstract: Recently, Williams [1] and then Yao, Xia and Jin [2] discovered explicit formulas for the coefficients of the Fourier series expansions of a class of eta quotients. Williams expressed all coefficients of 126 eta quotients in terms of and and Yao, Xia and Jin, following the method of proof of Williams, expressed only even coefficients of 104 eta quotients in terms of and . Here, by using the method of proof of Williams, we will express the even Fourier coefficients of 196 eta quotients i.e., the Fourier coefficients of the sum, f(q)+f(-q), of 196 eta quotients in terms of and . Abstract : Effect of Different Diets on The Development and Morphometric of Coccinella septempunctata (Linneous)
Effect of Different Diets on The Development and Morphometric of Coccinella septempunctata (Linneous) DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.65 |
Abstract: A laboratory experiment was carried out to determine the effect of different diets on biology of Coccinella septemputata Linneous, in the Department of Plant protection, Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, Pakistan during 2011 and 2012 at 28±2 ºC and 65±5% relative humidity. The result showed that total larval developmental period was recorded 8.0 ± 0.72 and 7.8 ± 0.69 days on grain moth eggs and safflower aphid, respectively, however, no significant difference was recorded between pre-pupal and pupal period on grain moth egg and safflower aphid. The adult longevity of male (43.10 ± 1.04 and 56.50 ± 1.61) and female (36.07 ± 0.24 and 42.50 ± 0.69 days) was significantly different on grain moth eggs and safflower aphid, respectively. The larval instars were not survived on prepared artificial diet, however, only adult male and female survived (68.50 ± 2.03 and 72.90 ± 2.07 days) without fecundity. The result further revealed that the length and breadth (mm) of larval instars, pupa and adults of C. septempuntata was significantly varied feeding on grain moth eggs and safflower aphid.
