Innovative Energy Standard of Curative Cupping/Hijama DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.63 Published: 03 August 2015 |
Abstract: Objective:Cupping therapy (CT) is a therapeutic technique that has proved to be beneficial in array of human diverse plethora of ailments, has recently regained a significant gravity in present day medical practice. ACT (Asif Cupping Theory) of cupping therapy has been new therapeutic mold that explains the occult scientific dimensions of Cupping Therapy. Material & Methods:In the human physical body fundament electrical potentials generates from cell membranes. The ACT proposed that the application of negative vacuum pressure over the skin dot of low resistance or Quantum Orifice through the myofasical anatomical structure provides a meaningful access of cellular and organ energies that result in reorientation and dielectric relaxation. Results:Application of negative suction over specific Quantum Orifices over skin offers the access of specific organ in address. Additionally use of cuts over skin provides chance to filter out energies through evacuation of blood that itself contains water molecules as dielectric constant on one side and is physical molecular structure as condense energy on the other hand thus establish a linked to specific organ in address that results in the alleviation of pathogenic insult. Conclusion:ACT is novel quantum based energy model that successfully gives details that CT is a meaningful route based on electrical connectivity of deeper structure with quantum orifices present over the skin and application of negative vacuum and bloodletting facilitates the therapeutic expulsion of stagnated and intoxicated energy. In Vitro Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Activities of Mondia whitei (Hook. f.) Skeels Idayat Titilayo Gbadamosi and Sakiru Morenikeji Erinoso DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.60 |
Abstract: Mondia whitei (Periplocaceae)is an aromatic plant used as aphrodisiac and for the treatment of urinary infection, jaundice, headache and diarrhoea in Nigeria. The plant was screened for phytochemical components using standard techniques. The antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of the plant were evaluated. The free radical scavenging activity was determined by 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The antimicrobial activity of M. whitei extracts against nine clinical isolates was determined by agar well diffusion method. Data were statistically analysed. The root was richer in saponins and tannins than the leaf whereas the leaf contained more flavonoids. The root gave 47.23% inhibition against DPPH+. There was positive correlation between the polyphenolic content and the antioxidant activity of the plant parts. At 300mg/ml, the water extracts of both the leaf and root were more active than the ethanolic extracts. The higher antimicrobial activity of the water extract could be attributed to the solubility of active constituents of the plant in water. The root showed higher antioxidant and antimicrobial activities than the leaf. M. whitei root could be very effective in the management of metabolic and infectious diseases. However, toxicological studies will confirm its safety in administration. Keywords: Mondia whitei, Antioxidant capacity, Antimicrobial activity, Polyphenolic content, Nigeria. Download Full Article |
Enhancing on the Mineral Elements of Exposure to Magnetic Field in Plants Leave Abdelaziz A.M. El Shokali, Abdelrazig M. Abdelbagi and M.D. Abdallah DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.62 |
Abstract: The aim of this work was investigating the accumulation of the element's contents in plant leaves using magnetized and non-magnetized water for irrigation. Sunflower and tomato were irrigated using magnetized water conducted with magnetic field in the range of 250 mT and irrigate with normal water for comparison in an open land. The measurement of elements was performed using atomic absorption spectroscopy to identify the levels of Calcium, Iron, Potassium and Zinc in the leaves of the plants under survey. The results are evaluated using different statistical methods from data obtained to assess the levels of elements enhanced in these leaves. The leaf elements quantity in plants treatment with a magnetic field has a significant impact on plant yield and food quality. Oxygenated Secondary Metabolites from Endophytic Fungi Isolated From Ocimum sanctum Mohammad Shoeb, Mohammad Shaheen Uddin Khandaker and Nilufar Nahar DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.61 Published: 30 July 2015 |
Abstract: Ocimum sanctum Linn (Tulsi), an important medicinal plant of Bangladesh is used for antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antiulcer activities. Eleven endophytic fungi were isolated from O. sanctum. The fungal strain, labeled as OS-005, was cultivated at large scale on the potato dextrose agar semi solid medium and was extracted with ethyl acetate. Repeated column chromatography of the parent extract by normal phase silica gel and one of its fraction by Sephadex LH-20 afforded linoleic acid, R (-)-glycerol monolinoleate, 9,10,11-trihydroxy-(12Z)-12-octadecenoic acid, ergosterol, ergosterol peroxide, 1,8-O-dimethylaverantin, coriloxin, and a new natural product named sanctumol. The structures of these compounds were elucidated unequivocally by UV, IR, MS and a series of 1D & 2D NMR analyses. The Membrane Sensors Sensitive to Fluoxetine - Optimization of the Analytical Parameters DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.6000/1927-5129.2015.11.56 Published: 01 July 2015 |
Abstract:Background: The analytical characteristics of electrodes containing liquid PVC membrane depend on the purity of the electroactive material and the applied membrane solvents. Methods: Fluoxetine - one H-bond donor, formed ion-associated complexes with tetraphenylborate, tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate and dipicrylamine. To confirm the quality and purity obtained complexes the elemental and TLC analysis were performed. The construction and general characteristics of fluoxetine ion-selective plastic membrane sensors, based on the use of a fluoxetine – tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate ion-pair complex as electroactive material with 2-nitrophenyloctyl ether, bis(2-ethylhexyl)sebacate, bis(2-butylpentyl)adipate and 1-isopropyl-4-nitrobenzene as solvent mediators. Results: The electrode containing Fl-ClTPB-NPhOE (fluoxetine-tetrakis(4-chlorophenyl)borate-2-nitrophenyloctyl ether showed a linear response to fluoxetine at concentration ranges of 30.93 – 2.16 g·L-1 with a super Nernstian cationic slope 60.19 mV·decade-1. Conclusions: This Fl-ClTPB-NPhOE sensor was used for the potentiometric determination of the content of fluoxetine hydrochloride in pure form and pharmaceutical formula.
