Dr. Ahmed Alaoui is currently a Consultant at the World Bank. He served as an Associate Professor at the Department of Translation and Interpreting Studies at CHSS from December 2013 to August 2021. Before joining Hamad Bin Khalifa University, he was a Professor of Translation (Head of the Professional BA Translation Program) at Ibn Tufayl University, Morocco. His research focuses on translation pedagogy (translator training) and theory-practice interface. His book, Translation: A Practical Guide for English-Arabic Translators, is the fruit of more than 25 years of teaching translation at the graduate and postgraduate levels. He was also a Visiting Scholar at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA, and the University of Nantes, France.

Dr. Alaoui is also a confirmed professional translator, certified by the United Nations (Roster), the Ministry of Justice of the Kingdom of Morocco, and OTTIAQ, Canada. He has been leading workshops on Legal Translation as well as Revision and Quality Assurance for more than 28 years.

Zeinab Ibrahim is a professor of Arabic studies, teaching Arabic as a foreign language (TAFL) and sociolinguistics. She earned her Ph.D. from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. She holds an M.A. in (TAFL) and another in Communication, both from the American University in Cairo. She has several books, including "Beyond Lexical Variation in Modern Standard Arabic: Egypt, Lebanon, and Morocco." She has published many articles investigating the Arabic language, linguistics, and sociolinguistics. She was the president of the American Association of Teachers of Arabic (AATA), executive director of CASA (Center for Arabic Study Abroad), and held other administrative positions. She has organized several international conferences and received several grants of over 3 million $.

Dr. Rania Habib is a Professor of Linguistics and Arabic in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University. Her research activities cover diverse topics in Arabic linguistics and sociolinguistics, with a special focus on language variation and change. This diversity of topics and broad connectivity of sociolinguistics to various linguistic structures establishes her research as interdisciplinary because it often necessitates working at the interfaces of different subfields of linguistics, including pragmatics, discourse and conversational analysis, second dialect/language acquisition, phonology, morphology, syntax, bi-/multilingualism/culturalism, language teaching, and cross-cultural communication. Dr. Rania's research aims to discover the different patterns of language use, including discourse and pragmatic features and variation and change in rural and urban Arabic-speaking communities, with particular focus on Syria, additionally Cutting across various subfields of linguistics, methods (qualitative, quantitative, ethnographic, and formal), approaches (synchronic, diachronic/historical, phonological, syntactic, morphophonological, pragmatic, sociopsychological, and/or ideological), and perspectives. Her publications have appeared in top-tier journals in linguistics, such as Language Variation and Change, Journal of Child Language, Journal of Pragmatics, Canadian Journal of Linguistics, etc.

Dr. Ferhat Mameri is a seasoned academician and professional in translation studies with an extensive educational background. He completed his Ph.D. in Translation Studies from the University of Constantine in 2006, following earlier studies at the University of Montreal, Canada, where he pursued his ABD and M.A. degrees. Dr. Mameri's academic journey began with a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting from the National Institute of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Algiers. With over two decades of experience in academia, he has held various teaching positions, starting as an Assistant Professor at the University of Constantine and progressing to roles such as Associate Professor, Full Professor, and Chair of the Department of Translation and Interpreting.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mameri has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. He has taught diverse courses at prestigious institutions such as the University of Nizwa, United Arab Emirates University, and the University of Constantine. His expertise spans translation technology, contrastive analysis, genre and text analysis, research methodology, and the fundamentals and theories of translation and interpreting. Dr. Mameri's contributions to the field extend beyond the classroom, as evidenced by his supervision of numerous graduate students' theses and doctoral dissertations. Additionally, to his credit, he has presented papers at various international conferences and has several publications, including book chapters and articles. His scholarly endeavors reflect a deep understanding of translation studies and a dedication to advancing the discipline through teaching, research, and academic leadership.
